Turns out the starter for the truck is for a 168 tooth flywheel, current flywheel in the truck is a 153 tooth (because fuck chevy & their clutch/flywheel options). They don’t make a 153 tooth starter that bolts to the bellhousing. If the motor isn’t tapped for the correct starter the project is dead. If it is, I now have to buy a new starter.
Oh, and the engine might have a rust ridge in one or more cylinder that will destroy the rings as soon as I crank it over.
But hey, at least it is in the truck right?

no its not the pitch, its got a different shell. one is a staggered, and the other is a horizontal pattern. it just moves the starter over by maybe an inch......

Got to bump the engine to see if will even rotate. If so I need to bump it to the right place to pull the weird HEI distributor so I can swap the old one over, so I can use the not-hacked wiring harness so I can actually start the bastard.

I post about yet another problem I’m having getting the truck together in such a tight time frame and your response is to “get yo shit together” Which either reads as “stop being lazy and get to work” or “stop fucking up and get it right”, either of which is really insulting.
