Who the hell can afford an Escalade, but needs to put it on Turo?

I understand with like Lambo’s, because most people wouldn’t drive those everyday. But something like an Escalade the whole point is it’s a luxurious suburban, something you can drive everyday. I mean it’s huge, but still. What would you have it for if your not driving it often?

These and the Suburbans they’re based on are a guilty pleasure of mine. Few things are more American than passing up on all of the sleek, fast European SUVs you could have at this price point, and buying one of these instead.

I haven’t seen a Doug video in lots of months.

Is it me or is he trying way too hard? Is this his new style?

It’s not like that’s rare, either. Turo is absolute jam packed with luxury cars that are normally DDs.

There’s a local guy who has 12 cars on Turo. Range Rover to S-Class, and everything in between.

I guess to answer your question.. To make money.

Seriously Doug? These are the quirks?

-Normal steering wheels buttons

-DVD Screens from the early 2000's

-Folding seats

-Cooled cup-holders/glovebox

-HUD

-Capacitative Touch-screen

I mean if we were in 2002 these would be interesting.

Ya I have a couple cars, and why not recoup the cost? Especially if it’s a lease or car where a accident that is 100% covered and 100% repaired won’t affect the value.

Probably not but if he isn’t driving them why not make a buck off them.

I’ll take a Yukon Denali over this every day of the week. I’ll take the new Navigator coming out over both.

That high brake light wiring is a horrendous engineering disaster.

I don’t know, the cheapest one is $200 a day. If it’s rented just 7 days a month that’s $1400 (not counting Turos take). Plus you get to write off the cost of the car over 5 years, since it’s a business asset. He probably doesn’t pay any taxes on that income.

It’s possible to profit from a lease if you get a car that people want to rent, but rental companies generally do not carry. Depending on your lease payment and competing rental rates, it could generate positive cash flow.

Say your lease is $700, you need 5 rental days at $150/day to have positive monthly cash flow. The lease downpayment, operating/insurance/maintenance costs, etc. will have to either be baked in or written off depending on whether you personally use the car.

The guy who owns the F-Type that I Turo’d a few months ago does this with 3-4 cars.

Or if people would even rent it lol

Not a bad way to fund an extra car for yourself I guess. I’ve heard they’re bad about covering damage claims though. Apparently scratches under 6 inches aren’t covered.

At the right price, you can get someone to Turo any car that runs.

But the question is, if you charge a daily rate much lower than the $30-ish baseline that large rental companies charge, do you want to risk attracting Gang Starrs who want to use it for, um, “work”?
