Here is probably the most rediculously cheap mod I have ever done. Purchased LED peanut bulbs for just 10 cents SHIPPED for a pair.

Check out the video to see where I got them and how I modified them to fit my dome lights without having to mess with the factory housings.

How does this work? Paypal charges a $.30 transaction fee, plus 2.9% So, the seller just lost 20 cents without even considering the shipping costs??

like what you did with the housing. I spent more on my LEDs (2-5$, what a tragedy!) but they work/look great on my old ass trans am. They even dim properly!

Does this guy know David Tracy? Who else uses a washer and dryer as a work surface?

I have no idea. Even the postage would have had to cost them more than 10 cents...Either way im not complaining lol

Very cool. As you pointed out cheap LED map lights aren’t likely to hurt anything, but LED bulbs most definitely don’t all come from the same place. A brand name bulb from a company like Cree is going to have a much lower chance of burning your house down than a no name bulb from China that they’re selling for less than it costs to ship. Obviously not an issue with a little map light, but all LEDs are not created equal.

It would costs $2.61 to mail those inside the US. Unfortunately China subsidizes shipping to the US, so the seller pays nothing out of his pocket. Even worse our government agreed for it to be tracked via USPS. Still doesn’t make it viable.. Unless they average 40 bulbs per order. Even then.. it’s not worth it.
