So this popped up on my Facebook memories today (7 years ago, wow!). Guy who owned it lived down the street from me. Corvair with a higher, boxier rear passenger area, wicker on the rear passenger side only, and a fake front grille, also all the shit on it had period correct wear which makes me think it was purchased new like this. Anyone know anything about this? Was it made by some sort of conversion company? Are there more? Is this a one off custom for some (presumably) insane rich person? It was last seen by me around 7 years ago in NJ if that helps.

I remember seeing pictures and the story, but I don’t remember the story. Definitely not-tasteful aftermarket mods.

Wow - looks like someone couldn’t decide whether they wanted a Corvair or a Valiant. Can safely say none of it is factory and while there were known modders out there, nobody was doing that that I’ve ever seen.
Now I want to know the history of that as well.

Turns out was Raymond Lowey’s personal chauffeur driven car. Is now in a private collection and restored.

Wow - I love his Studebakers. Have to say, I hate that car. :)
