Look I guess when you are punching these things out like tic tacs they aren’t going to be perfect, still...

Co-worker just bought a brand new f150 EB 2.7, this is apparently a chunk of foam that isn’t supposed to be there and was included in the paint process. This foam is now an integral part of protecting the bed...good things its aluminum. In fact as I pulled it a little I noticed there is already a black layer of aluminum oxide thats formed under it.

I’ve never seen black aluminum oxide form in the world. Only white. Weird.

A dumb thing my escape does - if you turn on an interior light while the key is in the car and turned on, then you must have they key in the car and it turned on to turn it off. It drives me nuts. If I take the keys out and press the light to turn it off, it won’t turn off!

Fortunately mine doesn’t have that. I do envy that lightning blue paint, as that is the color I would’ve ordered a truck in. Poking around underneath mine after I got home, I was surprised to see how many body cavities are foam filled on these trucks.

Awful. Does Ford have the worst build quality of the Big 3 or what?

Don’t know...I mean they have some stiff competition with FCA. Sure was a little disappointing especially considering its very visible without trying.

My wife’s Fiat came from their Serbian plant and has decent build quality. The interior bits don’t fit as well as a Honda, but there are no unfinished edges that actually hurt you. And of course no foam filler oozing out of door seams.

I’ve been cut by an untrimmed interior piece in a Chevy once.

You spelled Kwality incorrectly in your headline. Pretty sure it starts with a ‘K’.

TIL a small body sealer over-run = “the worst quality control in the world.”

I didn’t really say that.

That particular item doesn’t matter in the big picture, but I vote with my dollars and perception matters to me when buying a car that I expect to rely on for daily use.

If that’s the standard they apply to the body, what about the engine gaskets, fluid hoses, etc. that are not as readily visible?

There’s no Ford truck plant in Indiana. it’s either Kansas City (11th VIN=”K”) or Dearborn (11th VIN=”F”.)

Yeah it looks like it oozed out of the two pieces there, like gorilla glue. And they don’t go back to the dealer? I would let them know.

Ford just has shit quality control apparently. My mom’s Fusion not only passed factory QC, but also through PDI with both C-pillar trim pieces having a big enough gap for me to fit my entire hand in. That and the fact that there’s enough of a gap at the bottom of the A-pillars to see into the dash, plus the headliner looking like it was trimmed at the front edge with a dull blade (on top of many other things) make me think Ford needs a rehash of their QC techniques.

Tell them to take it to the dealer. Ford repainted part of my hatch due to a factory defect under warranty. I even got a loaner.
