Commuting to work on monday and ran into a car I’ve seen multiple times blowing stop signs, tailgating, passing on double yellows, and in corners. In short, a jackass without any regard for those around him or himself. Anyways, he came speeding up on my rear end while I was already doing 10 over the limit on a two lane rural road. I give him the benefit of the doubt with a couple light taps of the brakes to give him a warning. Of course, he only gets closer, to the point I can’t even seen his grill (I already know the car though). We get to some tight turns, still on me. At this point I am going slower just to piss him off. Road opens slightly, and all I hear its his beat to shit toyota screaming for all its worth. I then proceed to make the situation worse by flipping him off. Then he locks up his fronts to brake check me to the point I have to put two wheels off the damn road to avoid him. I finish the encounter with a call to the police to file a report. This is not the first time I’ve seen this asshole and I am sure it wont be the last.
Fuck this pissed me off. I enjoy driving through corners as fast as the next guy, but not 15+ over the limit, passing mid blind corner putting the safety of others in danger. If I ever come across someone on that type of road going slower, I just accept it as is and take it as a sign I need to cool my jets.
Next time I see him, I will pull over with my phone at the ready

There’s an older Charger with a hideous paint job in my neighborhood that is known for the exact same thing. Tailgating, hauling ass on the 30 mph roads, blowing stop signs while cross traffic slams on their brakes, etc.
This is why I need an F-250 with a front end replacement brush guard and an aftermarket steel bumper.

Apart from the blind passing and the fact that you’ve seen the guy before I’d call you out as the dick here. Someone wants to go faster... meh. If there’s really a problem it’s the cops job. That said I’ve been pretty desensitized to speed limits because Ontario sets them so stupidly low.
But he has a history that you know and proved himself an asshole with a brake check that vicious. In that situation I’d probably be doing the same thing as you. Assholes deserve to get treated like assholes. One thing though... under no circumstances would he be getting past me. He could ram himself head first into a hillside at 100 MPH—ain’t care. If he gets by it could be me that chews dirt.
Not that I advocate turning public roads into racecourses or anything... but some people I refuse to deal with until I have room to get away from any dick move they might pull.

2) BUY A CAR CAM. I would recommend one but I’m looking for a new one myself since I’ve been using a cheap Chinese made one for several years now.

Not saying that the Toyota driver isn’t at fault, but you made the situation so much worse by intentionally slowing down and flipping him off. If you are so concerned for your own safety you should have pulled off the road and let him by (and then called the cops with the plate number).

I know it’s tempting but in situations like this it’s best not to engage.
Obviously, tailgating on a 2-lane highway is stupid because there’s literally nothing the car in front can do other than speed up, and a normal, rational person can’t expect the car in front of them to be willing to exceed the speed limit by the same amount as the tailgating car. (Obviously they are not being normal and rational, that’s the point here.)
Don’t brake check or flip the bird, just keep driving at your desired speed and let them do whatever craziness they want. You never know if someone’s going to do some stupid shit that causes an accident, or has some kind of weapon on them.

that thought did cross my mind, but there were more cars up ahead, including a couple slow moving vans. He wasnt going anywhere even if he got passed me, and I would only be stuck in a sandwich with a van up ahead and the ass behind me. If I was on the bike it would be one thing, but I was only in the car, not enough get up to get around that many cars. With the nutty drivers in socal, I have had to do that a number of times

Agreed, but I didn’t slow to rediculous levels, still going the speed limit and the speeds most people drive around these corners (blind with driveways on either side)

It is frustrating, but consider pulling over? Tapping the brakes, slowing excessively, flipping him off, really doesn’t help. Let him pass, be on his merry way until his POS car dies and he has to walk to work.
People like that are never going to take a hint, learn their lesson or what not, and really it isn’t your job here to try and correct them, trying to deal with them is just going to raise your blood pressure, ruin the rest of your day, and affect those around you. Save that for something that really matters. It would be the dumbest thing in the world to have an aneurysm caused by this a-hole, or be distracted and your excuse is that this a-hole is on your mind.
Incentive, nothing is cooler then a person who doesn’t loose their cool :D
