I slowly started to talk my wife into changing her aging Versa (2008) Now she’s out of control. It turns out that she’s even worse then me and changes idea everyday.

It went from a Mini Countryman to an Audi TT to a Ford Edge to a Ford C-Max. In the last week alone.

Today? it’s a Kia Niro. That would make sense. And if the family car is now hers, I could have a smaller sportier car than the Optimanual.

I feel you bro. At one point, my wife was trying to decide between a 3-series and a Suburban.

Last time I was serious about buying a car I had a 19 car list. It had a Ford Fiesta and a Volvo S80 on it...

My wife has a 2008 Versa, too. It currently has an airbag recall for the passenger side, so one of us has to ride in back if we take her car, but she absolutely loves the thing. We bought it new (with a 0% loan) and have taken it on many adventures, including moving us from AZ to WA, so there’s more than a little sentimental attachment.

As an enthusiast, I have to give props to the Versa. It’s built well and has a nice, if plain, interior. After 110,000 miles, it’s had almost no problems and the interior still looks brand new. It has less squeaks and rattles than some brand new cars. Driving it? Kind of fun, for what it is. Good steering feel, light weight, and small make for a fun combination. It understeers like crazy, obviously, but it’s an enjoyable car to drive.

My wife is still no closer to wanting to replace hers, but when we talk about replacements she only has one rule: no sedans. She thinks sedans look boring. Which means wagon, hopefully, or a hatchback. She doesn’t like most crossovers.

Good luck with the search, and keep us posted on what she ends up with.

You’ll have to do a write up if you go for the niro, my wife is also considering one but it’s near the bottom of the list but I kinda like it.
