Kinja'd!!!

NASCAR is not only adding a road course to the playoffs but it’ll be Charlotte’s infield road course. This looks like it’s going to be fun

Of all the breathtaking road courses throughout the country, they decide to race through an oval infield parking lot? O_o

I assume tracks that were already on the schedule don’t really want to give up their races.

NASCAR should have some more road courses. I’m still surprised they haven’t struck a deal to race at COTA yet. I’d also love to see them on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve - those cars would be insane down the back-to-back straights and probably funny to watch over the many tighter corners on the circuit.

The way I see it: Aussie V8 Supercars is about as close of a comparison you can make and those races tend to be exciting ones.

Texas speedway gets butthurt over people trying to run at COTA.

But the Speedway Corporation doesn’t own any of those beautiful road courses.

The thought crossed my mind that there must already be a Texas race. It’s too bad, COTA is a nice wide track with plenty of space for drivers to commit (and probably over-commit) into corners and have some great wheel-to-wheel action.

I wish they’d change Pocono.

It’s much easier for fans to see the entire race when it’s an infield road course. I get why they did it and I’m not complaining

There has been rumors of Indycar running at COTA ever since it opened but every time the idea pops up Texas Motor Speedway gets all fussy about how you can’t race there because they were here first.

Or they could just go to Road America. They are up to something like 14 huge viewing screens in the popular areas. Watch the screen until the action is where you are. It’s just fine.

All tracks have a 5 year sanctioning agreement with NASCAR. No new tracks until 2021, unless a date is moved between ISC or SMI tracks

Well, they own the one they already race on.

Huh, that’s pretty cool. Are Nationwide series cars worse than the Sprint Cup cars? I don’t think I’ve seen Formula 1 cars take the final corner (the one at the Wall of Champions) side-by-side. Then again, as of the 12th lap they were in their 3rd caution period so maybe some of the drivers were a bit overzealous into the corners.

I had also forgotten that Villeneuve drove in NASCAR, too.

Nationwide cars are now called Xfinity cars, it’s NASCAR’s AAA feeder series. But a LOT of Sprint Cup (Now called Monster Energy Cup) drivers pull double duty and race in both.
