Redemption 7.0 is this weekend, and there should be a ton of good racing. If you like no prep drag racing, this is one of the biggest events of the year. It should draw some big names!

Pictured: The Godfather (who probably won’t be there after the wreck at Cash Days).

Who’s going to be there? Good question! I have some answers:

Jolene aka The 55
Chuck and the Death Trap
Doc and the Street Beast
Monza and the Sinister Split Bumper Camaro
Kye Kelley with The Shocker
Larry Larson
Cody Baker
Andy Reynold and the red wagon
Derek Travis with The Silver Unit
Lea Oches
Kayla Morton
Boostedgt
Mike Murillo
Scott Taylor with his new no prep GTO named Jane Doe
Jerry Bird in The Probe
Bobby Ducote
Boost12
Swampthing LongTop
White Zombie
Shannon Coan
Barry and The Godfather (probably not)
Chase The Kid
Kenjo Kelley
Casey Rance
Cody Jones
Davey Allen
Ryan Martin and the Fireball Camaro
Hensen in Plan B
Jason Cantu
Ruben Ybarra with the Hammerhead

$120k in prize money will be paid at this event, and Shannon runs a tight program. It can be viewed in person, or via SpeedVideo.

For most drag racing, they spray the track with VHT (an adhesive) until it’s so sticky, you can barely walk on the surface. No prep means that the track is actually scraped clean and no adhesives are allowed. It varies by event, but most events only allow you to use water for burnouts (no pimp juice), and your burnout cannot pass the starting line. It’s basically a way to turn the track into more of a street (with barriers). It’s probably the hottest type of drag racing right now.

I do enjoy watching but I still can’t help but think no prep is stupid. Every event there is 1 or 2 big wrecks and countless super close calls. It seems these guys just love loosing money.

It’s almost like a 50% chance of “today I’m going in the wall.”

Racing used to be “I hope I win”

No prep is like “I hope I don’t wreck”

There are wrecks at almost every prepped race as well. It’s just part of drag racing. Radial v the World has the most prep done out of all of drag racing, and they have a lot of accidents. The no prep racing comes down to chassis tuning and power management.
