There are lots of reasons not to drive a 16 year old British car.

But OE parts availability sure isn’t one of them. Granted, at $60 with shipping, I could have gotten much better speakers, but the stereo is already pretty good and I don’t want to have to tear apart a second door or deal with any harnesses.

Anyone have any idea if there’s a date code? I scanned the QR, but it’s just a repeat of the sticker.

date codes aren’t necessarily standardized. it could be the “63491" because some companies incorporate the production line # into it. But given the stated age of the car, I’d guess it’s the “247-01" as in the 247th day of the year 2001. seen that format used more than once.

and the manufacturer is Premium Sound Solutions (known as D&M PSS back then.)

I think 247-01 has to be it. Funny enough, since this is an ‘01 MY, that still makes the speakers newer than the car.

From what I’ve seen, PSS is OE in basically everything made in Europe. XJ8s had an Alpine premium option (the head unit is still Alpine), with six front speakers, but mine wasn’t optioned with it.

nah, there’s a number of players. PSS, Foster (Japanese,) ASK, Panasonic, Pioneer, etc.
