Kinja'd!!!

The San Gabriel Valley Porsche club had their Concours D’Elegance in Pasadena yesterday. Thanks to an early morning alert via The Netherlands, I got there in time to snap a bunch of pictures. Some nice cars if you’re a fan of these things.

Awesome! Good to see that the classics were in the majority.

So. Many. Good. Stuff! I’m glad I got to you in time for this feast!

So many questions/remarks as well. The purple “Classic” 911 was called Aubergine back then, for Eggplant. Later the purple metallic would change a bit and became Amethyst .

That purple the GT3RS came in actually is a popular color on... The GT3RS.

Kinja'd!!!

And you should ask that kid drawing the Martini GT3 to do your Le Car !

It was quite a feast. Every car was gorgeous. Not as spectacular as that meet you went to where you drove through the castle, but pretty great. Some 911 variants I hadn’t seen in person before.

I love that aubergine color. And, the amethyst is really nice, too, it’s just less purple to my eyes than I remembered. But, that GT3RS purple is absolutely perfect. It’s a real purple’s purple. I think that’s the car my mom needs. I should have left a note under its wiper with an offer to the owner.

That kid wasn’t bad. He was leaving his drawings in the cars, so it was like he was just doing it for fun. I bet he’d do a badass Le Car.

First meeting I’ve got planned with the Porsche is in September at the place the 911 met all those Rolls Royces. There has to be more meets though, sure I’ll do a C&C somewhere. Too bad the Pao isn’t ready yet: This weekend there’s a JDM meet there.

Haha, it’s not even metallic but that note should do the trick. I think I’ve shared you what color your mum needs before. Not too flashy.

Kinja'd!!!

WHY DIDN’T YOU ASK HIM???? How on earth are you gonna find him now???

There’s never a shortage of car meets that you can bring a 911 to. They’re welcome any time. How long until the Pao is all ready and street legal?

The non-metallicness is what makes it awesome. Metallic purple is common compared to flat purple. I love it. I’m on the fence whether she’d love that or hate it. Does it look more grey, or blue in person? I don’t think she’d want grey.

Well, I don’t know. He was absorbed in his work. Maybe he shows up often to meets in the area.

Friday I’m taking the headlights to a guy who’s able to de-RHD ‘m. Next week the shocks will go on ’m so I hope to get it to the RDW next week but probably the week after that.

That actually is a metallic color: Graphite Blue Metallic. But to me it’s more of a greyish color.

Wait till the end, that’s the new turbo-engine! Doesn’t sound too horrible.

Ah, it is a little metallic. That’s a nice looking car. I really like that color, but my mom would hate it, I think. Not blue enough. The turbo sounds fantastic. Have you driven one of the new turbos, yet?

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
05/30/2017 at 18:04, STARS: 1

Nope, never drove anything after the 996 actually. It’s about time. It sounds glorious. For a Turbo. It’s a TürbøMeister.

I don’t think my mother would go for a Turbo. She seems interested in a pure Porsche experience. And she mentioned how turbos make for less mpg’s and I was like, “Ma, you’re not thinking about fuel economy when you buy a Porsche.”

I’m a natural advocate for natural aspiration. But lord have Turbo’d engines been developing last decade. I sure want to try that 991.2.

Or that 718...

06/05/2017 at 20:51, STARS: 1

Yeah, I was never a turbo guy, either, but I like it with this 5 pot. And the new ones are so much better. I’d be curious to drive a 718 turbo. That must be fun. Like a crazy MR2 turbo.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/06/2017 at 03:39, STARS: 1

That 718 still has a “serious” engine when it comes to capacity. Can’t wait to try it. The Alpine really has a tiny one compared to that but then again: Part of it’s heritage!

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/06/2017 at 22:08, STARS: 1

Yeah, it’s proper that the new Alpine starts small. In ten years they can stick a twin turbo V6 in it. Of course, by then everything will be electric, but we can hope.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/07/2017 at 13:22, STARS: 1

And if it’s not electric it’s probably a parallel twin of about 400cc...

Two-stroker. Maybe one at each wheel. ;-)

With valves!

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/08/2017 at 22:01, STARS: 1

Haha. They sometimes have reed valves. They can add superchargers. Apparently you can do that now to a 2-stroke.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/09/2017 at 03:13, STARS: 1

Ford experimented with two-stroke three-pots in the late ‘80's/early ‘90's. With valves. To optimize efficiency.

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/12/2017 at 14:09, STARS: 1

Oh, I forgot those motors had valves. Nutty. Now that there’s starting to be a turbo backlash, they should bring those two-strokers back. I’m all for oil burners.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/12/2017 at 18:17, STARS: 1

That’s the beauty, they’ll probably use less oil then my 3.2!!! That one really is starting to burn the stuff now.

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/13/2017 at 13:26, STARS: 1

Like in a two-stroke, it just means you now get to save money on oil changes. If it just keeps burning it, no reason to change the oil. How many miles on that thing?

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/13/2017 at 16:31, STARS: 1

193k. Kilometers. I thought I’d be far from costs this year after the Bilsteins and 4 tires...

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/14/2017 at 00:49, STARS: 1

And it’s never had any major work? That seems like about the time it would start burning some serious oil. It ain’t a Toyota. And, your “accident.” Not the Porker’s year, I guess.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/14/2017 at 05:45, STARS: 1

Nope, never. At about 200k usually a new clutch is needed. So maybe I’ll get some work done in the process.
