I’ve said before that a big problem with me is when I see something like this $2200 ‘69 Roadrunner:

Kinja'd!!!

I can’t help but see this:

Kinja'd!!!

That Roadrunner has no floor (seriously, like none), no motor, no tranny, and needs work on the rear chassis rails. But for $2200 it still looks pretty good, and my thought with it would be to do zero cosmetically, cage it, put in a 383 and a 4-6 speed and make it a street driveable vintage stock car.

All that said, I don’t have $2200, so boo on me.

No floors is a huge time saver, you can properly weld the rollcage halos without removing the roof or cutting out existing floor.

Buy it, it’s practically at the stage to reassemble the way you want it already.

You know, that’s actually an excellent point. It’s almost better that it needs the whole front floor, I can just weld up the cage and drop the body on top of it, haha.

For the same money, I’d rather buy a mid 2000s Ford Focus

The floor is missing? No worries with popular muscle cars. You can get a new one with $380.

So it’s $2,200 (CDN or US?), but it needs everything except a body. I see that a few times here and there for classic ‘67-’73 muscle cars. I never think it’s worth it myself, because there is so many man hours involved (hundreds), and the money for all the parts themselves. Plus doing repairs on them every time they go wrong, because they will probably be built either cheaply or quickly, unless you got a lot of money. So you might have to spend a year sorting it out, and even then have a problem every week or two, unless you are a great mechanic.

That’s my favorite year for the satellite/roadrunner. If it was local to me, there’s a pretty good risk it’d already be sitting in front of the house, potentially upsetting neighbors while I figured out a plan.

68-69 is the best Roadrunner. My dad’s first car was a blue 68 with a 383 and a 4 speed, so it’s something I’m a little nostalgic for.

If I buy another muscle car (not planned anytime soon) it would likely be a 69 satellite (unless I find an affordable driver roadrunner)
