... sucks. And I only finished one of the two corners that I’m trying to get done this weekend. Good thing I did the smart thing and simply bought new control arms for the front!

Oh, I hate that kit. First time I DIY’d my own balljoints, that’s the loaner that O’Reilly had. Unfortunately, it was missing one of the adapters, so I tried to make it work by pressing the clamp directly against one of the receiver tubes. Yeah, it wasn’t gonna happen.

So I went to Advance, who loans out a Powerbuilt kit. Not only was it a complete set, but it had way more pieces to choose from. Worked like a charm!

Yeah this set is pretty light on functionality. I’ve really had to jerryrig it to get it to work. I would rather just replace the arms but had a hard time finding rears (many options for fronts).

Yeah that kit isn’t doing you any favors. It’s kind of shit.

There’s no fun way to do it. The only thing worse is changing camber bushings on a TTB Ford.

Wait, rear control arm bushings? Planning on doing the same thing this week, any tips?

That kit is not nice at all. This is one of the instances where the snap on version is worth the money. I’ve ruined a control arm with one of those sets, that clamp just doesn’t stay true. We now have a snap on kit and it works like a charm every time.

Patience.

Are you doing the whole rear suspension? If so, note that you should be able to get the hub bushing out without having to remove the hub from the car. That will save you much back-breaking work.

I’m putting poly bushings in since they were cheaper than OE rubber ones. The downside is that the grease for them is obnoxious. I’ve chewed through half of a box of rubber gloves.

Just rear bushings in the rear for now, springs/dampers later this year. I picked up some OE-replacements from rockauto cause this miata was free and I don’t feel like spending too much on it.

Other than that, front control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar end links to round it out. Should be much better.

Yeah, there’s some good logic to that approach. I bought mine for $950 and immediately spend $4k on sway bars, bushings, control arms, clutch, brakes (pads, rotors, lines), and flywheel. You should probably not do this.

That said, I figured I would just do it all at once, like a big bandaid rather than jacking the car up and down a whole bunch.
