Kinja'd!!!

Looking for a free program to run a small plane through, and varying iterations. Have any of you used such free/open source stuff? Any compatibility issues with open cad warez modeling as well? Looking for pitfalls and recommendations of the open sourcs route.

Here’s the link to student version of Star CCM. Not sure about importing models into it though

OpenFoam is popular. If you’re wanting to compare wing elements XFLR5 does decent 2D modelling.

Ive already got the elements selected, or at least two of them. Its the fuselage aspects im running with.

SU2 is good. What are you looking to get out of it?

Ultimately pressure area locations and their associated interference with each other, then ultimate lowest drag/frontal area shaping

I think XFLR5 has some fuselage analysis capability, I personally haven’t used it but it apparently works well and the RC crowd swear by it. Might be enough to get you started.
