It’s free until you couple it with a light weight battery, you’re sitting at a stop light or in a parking lot, and you notice that your lights are starting to dim.

Plus, the Viper engine is obviously a pushrod engine. I don’t know about the Viper V10, but I’ve heard of reduced dampening and even crank harmonic issues. People have even broken timing chains as a result.

Not all balancers are created equal. ATI makes good stuff for the LS engines.

At the end of the day, you will net 5hp at the absolute max (likely even less). So it’s really not worth the time, effort, potential cons, and of course the cost.

One last thing. Dayco = Booooo. At least get a decent Gates belt. :)

Underdrive Pulley Dyno

10-15 dyno’d WHP.

Didn’t change the dampener just the pulley. Original OEM dampener remains so no issues there.

So this should stiffen up Power steering, but also reduce how much power the alternator is making, yes? Also the AC compressor would be a little less efficient. (doubt one care from a performance stand point)

I got rid of my belt driven fan clutch, and that made a big difference, I run a 12" spal low profile in place.

I thought of going electrical AC comp, that has a huge drag on my car. I usually roll with the windows down for the exhaust sounds, and more power. I would do power steering too but the wagon uses the hydraulics for powering the brakes too. Others have done electrical PS, but they also converted the brakes to vacuum as well.

That’s rare and unusual. Though it wasn’t the same day, so despite the fact that they claim the conditions were similar, there is certainly a large margin of error. If prefer to see uncorrected numbers.

Regardless, 10hp is not worth the added cost and potential cons. There are better ways to make power than to waste your time and money with an UDP.

Also, have you considered the impact that a lighter and smaller pulley could have on the old stock dampener? It’s your car and your money - just hope it doesn’t bite you in the long run.
