I finally saw one of these in real life. They are super tiny.

Yup! I’ve not seen one in person yet, but they are small, basic and characterful - just the way I like ‘em!

I HAVE seen two of their ancestor classic FIAT 500s before....the only two I’ve ever seen in person, and they are very tiny, but I loved them as well! Pity I only had maybe 5 minutes to look around the both of those and have never seem them again...

Why didn’t you put it in your pocket for me!!! :P

Very cool! Looks to be an older FL model (so 1984-ish maybe. Certain details don’t look to be the first-gen ST series. Also not sure if it’s the original color either!

Early FL series cars were very odd as they actually had a LOT of ST parts at random. One car off the same production line might have the older style ST dash, the next car might have the later FL dash. You might get an FL with ST bumpers, or an FL with older ST wheel hubs (different bolt pattern), etc. Communist Polish production at the time of the ST to newer FL series switchover was very much “use what you’ve got” until they were out of the older style parts. :P

EDIT - Lane’s website says they have a 1976 model....but I am not so sure, as the one in the pictures has the later FL and newer wheel bolt pattern and hubs....maybe their 1976 had been modified with later parts....hard to say!

Thanks for the info. I am not sure. It could be a mash up from surviving communist Poland, or the could have changed the spec. They did have a ‘76 Mini updated to ‘97 spec.

Was talking to my friend in Poland who owns a 1999 126 - definitely could be an early body, but the rear trunk lid is wrong, the bolt pattern and brakes, and a few other things, so we’re thinking it was updated maybe by the owner before the Museum acquired it!
