With a new Alien movie coming out this weekend, all of the complaints about Prometheus and its dumb humans are returning.
Um, have you been watching the news? People are incredibly stupid! We are stupid enough to elect leaders that are somehow even dumber than we are as a group. If you were watching 2016/2017 as a movie, would it seem any less stupid than the characters of Prometheus? When characters act against their own self-interests, that’s realism!
I guess what I’m saying is, I’m pumped to see Alien: Covenant this weekend and I didn’t hate Prometheus.

#1 rule when entering an alien craft: DON’T GO NEAR ANYTHING, ALWAYS BE ARMED WITH THE BADDEST ASS WEAPONRY THAT YOU CAN CARRY.

I think the source of the “the people in this movie are so dumb” complaints about Prometheus are they do things that are so obviously the wrong move for the situation which creates more problems for themselves.
I’m struggling to remember the exact dumb things the people did because I never re-watched it but I’m vaguely remembering there were two people in the cave before all hell breaks loose and it’s like, “Oh hey look at this creepy crawly alien egg thing! Let’s touch it!” Instead of “Uhh guys, there’s a creepy crawly alien egg thing! Let’s get the hell out of here!”
Also, taking spacesuit helmets off in the presence of likely-dangerous alien thingies.

That just doesn’t ruin the movie for me. Look at Steve Irwin, he basically died the same way. That’s just how scientists are: curious and a bit aloof sometimes.
The spacesuit helmet off thing is stupid, but I can accept it as a way to better see the actors’ faces.
