The only problem is for all of my Nissan Juke hate the Beetle has the same problem. It sacrifices huge amounts of cargo space for a unque, but inefficient shape.

I always found the first-gen NB to feel really spacious inside, even when it wasn’t as practical as a Golf. So much headroom, but nobody is 8' tall. Comparing to the Juke is just nasty.

It seems like the dashboard is longer/windshield is farther away. Probably what makes it seem more spacious drone the driver’s seat

I hate these things with the fire of a thousand suns, but the old ALH TDI is a damn good engine. We have one client with a Beetle approaching 500,000 miles and the engine has never been apart, and it’s still got the original manual transmission (the automatics are made of glass). The rest of the car has been falling apart for some time, but the powertrain is great. My problem with the Beetle is that it takes a Golf, a very good and practical little car, and ruins it with plastic, low build quality, and increased difficulty of service. Also, the dashboard is 9 feet long.

These are all fair statements. I’d rather have a Gold too, or a Jetta Wagon, however Beetles seem to be much cheaper, and I like the idea of having a car some poeple hate.

Only reason it popped into my mind is it’s something with the similar diesel mileage but more comfy and practical for carrying things, and I figured good old ‘Murrican depreciation might work in your favor.
