I’m usually not personally affected by celebrity deaths, but this one just plain hurts. Such a damn shame that this voice is gone.

He was hands down the best voice of that era. Shame to see him gone.

My local radio station just played an in-studio, live acoustic version of Fell on Black Days that they taped a couple of years ago. Just amazing.

When I first heard I started trying to think what my favorite song of his was and I just can’t pick one. He (and Soundgarden/Audioslave/Temple of the Dog) had so many damn great songs.

I still remember how big Superunknown was in radio play on 107.7 in Seattle in the spring of 94 - it was huge in this area. Vivid memories of high school for me. This hurts.

Yup, and it was his voice that really made those songs, too.

Best voice in rock behind Freddie Mercury

He was fantastic, too - they’re so different, I’d hate to try to pick one of them over the other.

Don’t think I could. But both head and shoulders above everyone else talent wise. I like Cobain and vedder, but they could only sing Nirvana and Pearl jam, really. Cornell could sing anything

I just started listening to the above rendition of Like A Stone and it made my hairs stand up on end... Terrible loss, but I’m thankful that he was prolific as he was. He will not be forgotten.

I never realized it, but so much of his work seems terribly prophetic today. Feel bad that he was (apparently) suffering.

I feel terribly sad for his family. We’ve dealt with depression in my family (my mom), but thankfully she seems to have made it through the worst of it, has medication that is keeping her mood in check, and is enjoying life.
