Too damn much once you go through all the government approvals (watershed management, county health department, council reelection fund, etc)

I have a solution for you:

Dig a hole in the backyard, put a little shed over it with a place to sit and poopie, and BAM no need for a septic system.

If it was $30k i wouldn’t be moving. I probably wouldn’t be breathing either.

Do you mean “building codes and other reasons”, or “building codes and (literally) shit”?

These always have amusing names. I’ve recently seen:

Auranus (sure that’s a (probably mistranslated) Biblical name, but in the context of a pump truck...) I’m disappointed it lacked a golden “star” on the back, would have been a solid design. Tagline “You dump it we pump it”.

Pot o Gold I smell room for collaboration:

Septic tanks really don’t come cheap, do they. A few years back I remember the bill going across my desk just to move one. Dig up the old one, dig a new hole a bit deeper and a bit to the left, walk the existing tank about 30 feet, and bury it again. 4-figure bill for fifteen minutes’ work with the excavator. Fortunately I was only an employee and didn’t have to pay that. I feel for you.

Be glad then. Brother in laws was 32500 new construction though and it was an engineered field cause of the perk test.

I’ve had to price out a new septic system twice in the last few years. At the low end was $8,000 - $10,000 for a new tank, as the original had cracked open. The other was $15,000 - $25,000, as the system was condemned by the county. This was for a bank owned property, where the owner was taking a bucket and emptying the tank in the back yard, apparently. I’ll say one thing, the cost of replacement is far less than the effect on value, as no one wants to buy a home with a non-working septic system.
