This. I’m tired of this radio in my truck. Currently it’s stuck on one of two options. Tape deck adapter or the radio station that you really don’t want to listen to. So I’m replacing it tomorrow. The rest of the audio system will get replaced posthaste after this weekend.

The good news is double-din means that you’ll have excess worthless space for holding things, but really shouldn’t. Word of advise: do not put your phone in that space, you will never get it out.

But why ruin a car that was blessed with buttons with a touch screen?
I object. The answer is single DIN with buttons and then you fill the blank space with toggle switches.

Because I want Android Auto, *and* the dealer threw in a backup camera for free (I’m doing the install because I know how), which is something that I actually want for a much easier time hooking up the car trailer.

Those early 2000's GM radios suuuuuuuck. The one in my truck started crapping out by 60,000 miles. At least they made swapping easy.

The swap is easy provided you don’t have the RPO Y91 digital Bose nonsense (wait the fader is done over the Class II data bus!?!!?!).
I’m going to rip that nonsense out after this weekend. Also included in the deal is a JL Audio box for the console with sub.

So nice to have an easily replaced standard unit though. My Volvo has one that looks like it should be a double-DIN unit but isn’t quite (the mounting cage has rails that interfere with double-DIN mounting):

It is an option, but combined with other flaws (gap because the bezel is slightly too small, bad location because the head unit mounts at the bottom of the stack), I ended up deciding it made more sense to get a Grom Bluetooth module to add support for that rather than replace the entire head unit with a modern one.
