Of course, the waterlogged backup light has dried and has yet to return to its condensation-filled state, so there’s nothing they can do about it. I even purposely went through a car wash (touchless, of course) beforehand and nothing. Drove it in the rain the other day, too. No moisture buildup whatsoever. It’s like it never happened. Weird.

Anyway, some progress was made. Apparently, this part is broken:

I mentioned that it was loose, so they took a look and apparently the part is held on by several clips and one of the inner clips has broken off. No idea how or why. Either way, I don’t really care since the dealer ordered a new one under warranty.

Let’s hope the mysterious moisture problem doesn’t return!

Bollocks. Well you could always run a bead of clear silicone around the edge of the lamp if it comes back.... We all know how those cars like to act up until the moment they go to the dealer.

Shame your pics didn’t hold any weight.

Obviously it’s fixed. Just like my door handle. For like a week it wouldn’t work. To the point that I gave up and started opening my door by crawling in front the passenger side. Now for the last tthree days, it’s worked flawlessly.

My truck did that for a few years. Then I would forget there was ever a problem, and one day, “Aww dammit.”

The taillights have tiny vents in them to prevent condensation from temperature and humidity and I honestly think something (dust/dirt or a dead bug) was blocking this vent and I opened and shut the trunk and dislodged it.

The problem seems to have corrected itself, whatever it was, being that a subsequent rainstorm and car wash didn’t have any effect on it. As long as it stays gone, I’m good.
