Kinja'd!!!

That’s a lot for what this is. I built one online and a fully optioned, top spec T8 Plug In R Design rang in at an eye watering $68,540. Im sorry but thats CP. Not On this Earth nor any alternate ones would I drop nearly 70 grand on a midsize crossover. Its handsome, but not that handsome. What do you guys think of the prices?

As pricey as it is it seems about in line with competitors... (and it comes with Mjolnir headlamps!) That’s a nice looking rig. You can get a nice T6 R-design for $51,000ish...

I would, but only on a Macan.

You could get a Base Macan GTS for this price.

Doesn’t the XC90 start at like $45k sans AWD?

I’d rather one of those in T5 FWD guise than one of these for $3k more.

Is it though? A fully loaded CRV is coming in at over 35k now. This is definitely a class above.

Similarly equipped Lincoln MKZ is about $40k

Cars are just expensive

The RX is way closer in size and luxury to the XC90 than XC60.

Only 2.5 in shorter than the XC90 in fact.

It’s Macan GTS money for a FWD based CUV with incredibly awkward proportions.

I’ll say it, it’s fucking ugly.

I believe so. Because a base base model starts at 41,5 before anything.

Its priced out of its class at this price. Look at what Jordan, the slowrunner and kona said.

Or is it that bad? The T8 R-Design’s immediate competitor is the GLC43 AMG. With both cars having heated steering wheels, panoramic roofs, LED headlights, navigation and the big wheels, the pricing is virtually identical with the Volvo being a few hundred dollars cheaper, having more horsepower, and being a PHEV so it qualifies for certain rebates/HOV lane privileges in certain areas.

I would say that the GLC is a direct competitor. The thing is though, I don’t actually think people are cross shopping. And if they are, they would scoff at the price. Volvo doesn’t really bring in new customers a lot. The ones they have are dedicated to the brand in a Saab like way. A GLC buyer is looking at the Q5 and Lexus NX or RX. Not this.

Same market though. XC90 competes against the gx460

You’d be surprised what people have been trading in on XC90s and S90s where I live. I’ve seen the local dealer take in X5s, Q7s, Range Rovers (both sport and full-body), Escalades, RX350s, Jaguar XFs, 535is, E-classes, and GS350s on trade-in for the new Volvos.

Well the Lexus NX is within 2 inches of the XC60's length so I would say that’s more in the same market.

And by the way, the NX starts at $7,200 less than the XC60, or $6000 less with AWD. The Volvo is way overpriced.

That’s cause it’s competing against the RX.. Not the nx. If anything the Volvo is just small for it’s market... But that’s kind of Volvo’s jam

So the Volvo is the same size as the NX but competes with the RX, a vehicle that’s over 10 inches longer? At that point you could say that the XC60 competing directly with the XC90, because that’s only 12 inches longer. Doesn’t really make sense. How can a vehicle be 10-12 inches too small for it’s market, especially when there’s also another model from that manufacturer which fits the larger size?

I personally know a lot of people who buy in this segment of premium small crossovers and all of them look by the size of the vehicle. No one is cross-shopping a Infiniti QX60 an a Porsche Macan just because they’re similarly priced.

So I just figured out that you’ve got the wrong dimensions for the xc60. The 2018 is 184.6 inches long by 74.9 inches wide. Rx350 is 187.8 by 74.2.

So it’s 3 inches shorter but wider than the rx. It competes against the q5, RX, etc. Sorry but that’s the way it be.

I also had bad numbers, the 4th gen RX went to 192.5 inches. Still that’s 8 inches longer not 10-12 (the XC60 is still wider). The 2018 XC60 has a 112.8 wheelbase compared to the 109.8 wheelbase of the RX...I still maintain these are direct competitors and not the NX
