Sorta - it’s one of our old buses that was converted into a mobile police command post using DHS funds. Imagine 5 people and 10 computer monitors, with everyone either on the phone or radio. During the winter it was a tad chilly, but that’s what the space heaters are for.

The remodeling of the office is now complete and we’ve moved back inside, but it’s just a little to sterile, with the solid white walls and countertops. Too little desk space since they didn’t wall-mount the monitors as planned. And they didn’t get the computers in the right spots, so we had multiple systems with hard and soft phones, and other systems with no phones whatsoever. Oops.

That’s what I mentioned to my boss, but she said it was all handled by the in-house IT staff. I thought that they were better than this. But considering that we’re a 24/7 operation, I’m not surprised that there were issues whilst still trying to run the operation.

Oh, and of course, Windows did its usual Tuesday evening updates, so we had to wait some time to get each machine running as it did whatever it does during this process.

Even though the place I’m currently renting has central heat and air conditioning, I use space heaters like this one in each bedroom and a window air conditioner on the downstairs bedroom (office). Doing this has saved me a fortune in electricity costs and I don’t feel bad for conditioning spaces I’m not using.
