Everyone seems to have a car that’s not available in their market, and in the markets that they’re sold in, they’re completely regular and boring. But you still want one.

Kinja'd!!!

For me, it’s probably the Rover 75. It’s basically Europe’s closest equivalent to a Buick Regal, but I just love the look of it. It’s completely average in every way, but to me, it’s like a scaled-down Jag XJ.

During Europpomeet, we had to stop at some point because the convoy split and some guys got lost. we parked in what in hindsight must have been someones front yard. There was what I think was a 1996 model Ford Taurus.
As I was getting out of my car, my exact words were: of all the cars you could import, why a Taurus?

Rovers should resemble more Oldsmobiles than Buicks. Both of these brands have gone extinct.

Btw. That Finnish plate is fake. The real ROV-75 used to be on a BMW E34.

The Peugeot 206 was initially seen as a good little car but very soon it was characterised as being boring, some said unreliable (but I’ve never heard much from people who owned them saying so), ‘oh it’s just a Peugeot’, etc...

It’s great hearing from people from different markets think about cars they never got.

The 75 was okay, we had the 1.8 K Series engined but I think if you wanted one with a little more pep, go for the 2.5 V6. Or the 4.6 V8 close to the end of the MGRover Group.

It was worse than a Taurus. It was an American market Escort! Probably a car an American service member had shipped over but decided not to take back home. Proof:

I figured Taurus must be wrong while browsing pictures to illustrate. Thanks for clarifying that!

But hey: teal!

My mother had a friend with a Pontiac Grand Am back in 1992 or 93 and she seriously dumped money into making it legal to German standards at GM Europe in Frankfurt.

The way he says “PERZJO” is annoying.

It’s “POOZJO”

Oh hey, I’m sure the dude on the right was fascinated in a way by that Escort!

I bet he’d hate to be confronted with that picture.

For me, they’re all older Alfa’s that we never got stateside. The Alfa Romeo 33 (not the 33 Stradale) particularly the Quadrifoglio and the wagon. The 155, the 3rd generation Giulietta, the Sprint (which was based on the Alfasud.) I could go on, and on, and on.

Kinja'd!!!

Here’s a nice looking Sprint for your time. It’s sort of like the Alfetta coupe’s stouter, younger brother.

I bet he’s about to buy his first car and is dying for an Escort like that. Right when I shot that picture he started to realize he’s never going to be able to own a beast as grand as that Escort. Simply because he won’t be able to find one. I do pity him for that simple fact.

well some countries may say some models they have are boring, but may not know how good they have it until its too late.

Does France consider their Renault company offerings boring? I hope they don’t because the Megane RS & Clio V6 24V should be selling like crazy.

Hey, I’m from the UK which is a very similar car market to France.

Most people think Renaults are boring because generally - they are. Of course the Renaultsport cars are respected and have their fans, but just about everything else they make are cheap and sensible commuters - so their image reflects this.

I think I’d say it’s the Saab 9-2X.

Not sure if it’s completely regular or boring, but I want one, and it’s not sold here.
