Dealership is located on Over Dr. I get it, cute. Side note, please remind me not to post on FA anymore. Every time I post a conservative viewpoint there I feel the wrath of 1,000 pissed of wingnuts. Dissenting viewpoints from the liberal groupthink are NOT welcome there.

Have fun on the test drive!

As a progressive who likes to posts in sports forums, I can assure you that the right isn’t interested in different opinions either.

It’s certainly gone down hill over there. I go to autoweek now for car news. Also I would imagine there are better sources out there than FA.

Bummer. We always need dissenting views, even if we disagree with them. I enjoy reading your comments since they’re pretty well thought out and gives me another angle to consider.

Tell us about the test drive when you get back.

I’ve decided to not try and make a political point unless I feel I’m in a forum where at least some of the participants are open to rational discussion and varying points of view. Otherwise I’m just wasting my time. I don’t enjoy echo chambers for either liberal or conservative points of view.

The political landscape these days is more so a battlefield than ever before. I can absolutely understand why the liberals are frustrated with conservatives. Our president has created such a black-and-white attitude, a country in which politically there can be no middle ground, just fierce opposition between parties.

I’m firmly a liberal/democrat right now, for the simple reason that I believe the policies the republicans are trying to push through are inhumane and heavily favor rich white males. Which should come as no surprise since there is hardly a woman or minority in their cabinet. I applaud Emmanual Macron for endeavoring to appoint 50% women. Sure, I believe you should hire the best people, but if the “best” people aren’t even slightly representative of the racial and gender make-up of your country, then it can’t possibly be the best representation.

I also thoroughly admired Obama for the simple reason that he seemed like a decent human being both when he spoke, had conversations with constituents and in the way he approached policy. He wasn’t perfect, but again, he is/was a decent human being.

Anyway, to your point of the animosity you feel over there. I’m not familiar with it at all. But I can understand where it comes from in the context of our current battlefield of a left vs right political landscape. Our govern-by-twitter and act like a selfish-10-year-old president is a huge contributor to that.

All that being said. I can agree with certain conservative viewpoints, but not the misguided mess that’s being presented to us now. I can support in in principle, but not in its current practice.

Those were pretty mild responses. I took a muslim culture class in college taught by a retired Marine linguist. He taught a whole class on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and taught a few lessons that were basically the same as that PBS show you were talking about - interviews with former and current militants expressing their views. He thought in order to fully understand the situation, you need to hear from all sides, even the ones you think are abhorrent. I can assure you he was not a liberal wing nut.

Good luck with the truck.

I have made a conscious effort to avoid going to Jalopnik because I’m sick to death of the FA reshare spam, and I gave up on Giz months ago. Oppo and Small Scale Bashers, that’s about all of the kinja I can tolerate these days.

Best wishes in your pursuit of doing truck stuff.

Well looking at history, it’s not all wrong.

Still makes me smirk that Atlanta lost the NHL twice.

More just the general toxic atmosphere. Nice to see other teams have their share of people who exist only to be assholes though :)

I take pleasure in rationally dismantling them from time to time. Though apparently Sportnet’s mods don’t like reason. I can post something with little to no substance and have it stay, and yet reasonable counterpoints get disabled.

We may have one of the best markets in the league now. It was just a matter of one before the SEC football fans made it into being hockey fans too

Blake Geoffrion was a Middle tennessee player drafted in 2006. Was going to be a great talent but concussions got him. Nashville is pretty much where all the talent in the SE is but we’re waiting for them to get old enough to play in the bigs.

He must have Boom Boom Geoffrion in his family tree, right? Uncommon name. There might be some additional influences there :) but I suppose it has to come from somewhere. Maybe that family can get something going. Icetime is expensive.

I don’t know about that. Anaheim, LA and Dallas are both further south than Nashville. Colorado is well north and it’s numbers suck, Arizona is the same as LA but has terrible attendance (though THANK YOU ARIZONA—sincerely a Leafs fan), etc.

Here’s a chart of this season’s attendance. Teams with home attendance of less than 100%capacity are marked--teams north of Nashville are underlined, teams south are highlighted*.

Kinja'd!!!

*Because I’m an idiot, Carolina and San Jose should be switched.

Kinja'd!!! "fintail" (fintail)
05/16/2017 at 16:43, STARS: 1

There’s south, and there’s the American south. Not completely interchangeable.

There are many variables at play. It might have to do with the markets, too. LA and Dallas are yuuuge and wealthy - people will come no matter the team, just because there are so many people. AZ should never have received a team. Avs fans are bandwagoners (I wonder what a pile of losing seasons might do to Nashville, hmm) and Denver is a sleepy suburb compared to LA or Dallas. Etc. Carolina, good luck with that, another Bettman mistake.

I am surprised Tampa and Miami draw even that much, but half of Florida is from an area between Quebec and Philly, so maybe that makes sense.

A losing season in nashville meant 13000/17000 seats we’re filled on average compared to Chicago where’s 12,000 out of 21,000 we’re filled.
