I thought the XTS was going away

Kinja'd!!!

But I guess not because these leaked images from China show a facelifted XTS for 2018. The front facia seems to take from the CTS and CT6.

Kinja'd!!!

The rear is... I don’t know. Weird to say the least. No word on any engine upgrades or different options. But I found it weird that in China their sole engine option for the XTS is a 2.0 liter 4. We should see this refresh soon.

IMO, the signature Cadillac modern design elements don’t work on the XTS. Looks like a knockoff of the current XTS

I feel like the XTS makes more sense as a Chinese model anyway. Not sure why though.

Replace “Chinese” in your sentence with “Buick” and you’ll see why.

It’d make a lot of sense as a Chinese market car.

I like the back of that.

I think its because with the XTS, you can see how closely it resembles the Impala and Lacrosse.

I feel the same way too. Mostly because buyers of these things in China spend most of their time being driven around in back. They could care less that its a poser Cadillac.

What do you think the Buick Lacrosse is.

What do you think the Buick Lacrosse is.

Sexy. IMO I like the styling direction of current Buick more than current Cadillac...then again I do have bad taste in what constitutes a good or reliable car.

It is handsome. But the XTS, Impala, and Lacrosse are show that they are related a little too much. Especially in the sides.

Oh I’ve never thought about that! You’re right too. They all have basically the same hips and similar side profile.

Ive said it before and I’ll keep saying it: stuff like this shows that GM ( and other automakers but GM more so) is still a fan of badge engineering. They’ve just gotten better at it.

China loves to keep selling cars even after they have died in most of the world, Hyundai sells four! generations of the Elantra over there at the same time:

I’m pretty certain that the XTS is being discontinued after the 2018 model year in the US, to the public anyway. Whether it stays as a livery model is up for debate.

With the sales that it has though, arguably better than most of Cadillac’s lineup, they would be foolish to axe it.

At the same time, it’s nearing the end of its life cycle and doesn’t line up with the image of the rest of Cadillac’s car lineup at all. The new LaCrosse is more or less a better FWD/AWD boat just because of the age advantage.

This is true. But its sales pretty kind of reflect that their buyers, who are unfortunately for them still much older than they would like to admit, still want this big, comfy fwd Cadillac. Not some German imitation of what a Cadillac is now. I’ve actually heard that some buyers are turned off by the direction Cadillac has gone the last few years. Especially with the interior room that the ATS and CTS lack. If you think about it the only “true” Cadillacs left are the XTS and Escalade.

Exactly. That platform looks good as a Buick, but not so nice as a caddy.
