you roll up next to an 80s MCI bus at a stop light on a hot day and instead of ignoring it you shut off the a/c and roll down the windows so you can hear that sweet Detroit V6 and smell the diesel exhaust.

Sounded like this:

Beats fast and hard enough to make power metal bands bow.

Not enough to let me park that in the driveway. Lol

Tried to tell her we could give up the storage unit and use the bus. If I could get them down to 5k it would pay for itself in under 3 years.

Didn’t even look up from her tablet. Haha

Camping? LoL. That’s like taking an efficiency apartment with you. Which is why I’m all for it.

Ah yes, the Motor Coach Industries model 8. Grew up in the front row of 8s and 9s (and the occasional 7 and 10).

Good times.

I want to say they were mostly Detroit Diesels. Can’t say what size, but as they were tour busses, they tended to overdo it. My dad did a burnout with one once. Started on gravel and let er rip. He also parallel parked one also the airport between two cabs in the wrong waiting zone. The cop applauded, then ticketed the cab drivers. I have tons of memorie of crazy/goofy shit he did in/with busses. I miss that fucker.

Love that sound. For me it will always be associated with the Crown Coach school buses I used to ride 35+ years ago. The district had a number of them, but my fancy neighborhood was served by the latest and greatest, the long body with the dual rear axles and automatic transmission. Some day I’ll have one of these as a toy, but it will probably be a short one with a manual.

I wonder if it’s possible to slip a 12V71 into one of these...
