But I’m expecting a phone call from some people who want to give me freelance work and I don’t want them to call me while I’m driving.
I really hope we don’t end up discussing money during this call, because at the moment, it’s really difficult for me to come up with a valid reason why anyone should pay me.

You like money? And they have some to give you?
Seems a pretty compelling reason to me.

Pull over if and when they call. Ask them to allow you a moment to pull over so that you can give them your undivided attention.

That’s basically every interview I’ve ever had, except I also point out that hiring me is technically a charitable act and they could qualify as a non-profit.

I’m tempted to do that, but I’ll probably have to take notes and may need my computer, so it’s potentially too much of a hassle.

It’s fact checking a book for a publisher. I don’t expect that they’re going to offer very much money at all, but considering that I don’t have to leave the house to do it, I don’t care.
