Question for E_ULY or any other professional Volvo techs: what’s the proper way to seat the o-rings in a P2 chassis heater core?

I replaced the heater core in my S80, which went smoothly until I had to insert the pipes. The new o-rings require a remarkable amount of force to seat properly. The forums state a mixture of push really hard (I tried this) and use silicone lubricant spray (will try this today). Before I have to use a hammer or turnbuckle, what is the actual way to mount these?

UPDATE: a touch of silicone lubricant spray made the pipes and rings mount easily.

step 1 off the bat is to make sure that the lines are going in straight. Any angle or tilt will make things more difficult than it already is. I guess that also answers if it’s hard to put in. They are indeed. A little pure silicone spray helps. They really don’t want to go in lol. Makes sure it’s going in straight and push really hard is all I can tell ya. As far as VIDA shows, there is no special tool, just muscle.

I will offer one further suggestion. Put the seals on the pipes, not in the bores. I see new techs screw this up all the time.

UPDATE: I used a bit of spray silicone lubricant, and the pipe with o-ring went in perfectly and easily. I was both relieved and offended.
