After 3 hrs pulling her on a trailer she is home. She is a little worse for wear after sitting for 7 years.
my goal for the next month- 2 months is to get it cleaned up, fluids emptied/replaced, new battery and plugs, brakes inspected and fixed if needed, and running. She ran when parked and I am hoping I can get her running again without too much drama.
If I can get her running by July I will be happy. Then take it one step at a time for restoration.

Wonder if the Mazda/Ford 3.0 V6 would mate up. That could be fun.

Meh... Does the engine crank? 7 years not running is not that bad really... It shouldn’t take you more than a couple days work to get her running. These engines are real simple to work on...

There isn’t much aftermarket support for the 3.0. My B-3000 has one. I’ve looked.

Better yet, you can drop any v8 in there. LS, mopar, and ford, they all fit with various levels of hood modifications.

I figured it won’t take too long but I want to set realistic standards for my timeline with this project.
The battery is shot so I don’t know if it’ll crank. It ran when parked so I assume it will crank when provided enough juice to do so.
I’m going to start with a fluid change and plug change and new battery. If that doesn’t do the trick I will go through the list.
I love the pictures in the Haynes manual of people working on the engine on a work bench. So simple.

A buddy out here has a 1984 GSL-SE in that same color. He picked it up for free in decent shape and has done a full resto on it. Neat little car.

If the engine is shot I am going to take a serious look into a 200 hp setup from EV West. Brushless electric motor. Mated to the original drive train. They have done some cool work.

That would be a lot of fun. I’m more an LS man myself, and it is supposed to maintain the 50/50 weight distribution, but electric torque could be a fun toy to play with.

They sell a bellhousing to mate it to a T5.
I still want to do that swap into something sometime.

Get on the forums, they have some FAQ threads that detail exactly how to go about trying to get it running again after sitting for a while. If you do it wrong you WILL have problems that necessitate a rebuild.

They seem like a good company to work with too. I was talking back and forth with one of their techs when I was looking at a Corvair van in my area. He genuinely seemed to be just as bummed as me when the seller backed out of the deal.
