The problem with working in a good restaurant.

When other people invite you for dinner and they suggest say a restaurant, buts it’s chain. I cringe at that, there are so many other good restaurants that cost the same and have the same style of food. I can tell by looking at it how good it will be. If it has a big flashy sign chances are they value looks over food quality. The good restaurants have small subtle signage, and great food.

A side note: Don’t get mad at the hostess when they say it’s a 40 minute wait on a busy night, you knew it be busy so you should have made a reservation.

It doesn’t take working a restaurant to figure that out. Growing up, I always hated going on vacation with my family(whole family, including Aunt/Uncle/Cousin’s), because they have no imagination when it comes to food. They want microwaved food and flashy t-shirts. If I’m going to the beach, I want some good Gulf seafood, not fucking mediocre burgers at a place owned by Jimmy Buffet’s sister.

It’s the same at work now. I live in a place with DOZENS of great restaurants, but my co-workers would prefer to go to the same damn Mexican restaurant (a really shitty one, Taco Bell is on par) because it has cheap beer.

Nothing breaks my heart more than when visiting family wants Italian and someone enthusiastically suggests Olive Garden.

My mom wanted BBQ, so she chose Lonestar Texas grill. Cringe.

If they just go for beer, I don’t see that as a issue.

I don’t mind chain places when a few of us go for lunch every week. I do mind when that’s all anyone wants to go to.

Same, I don’t mind then once in awhile but not every time. I kinda know what to expect with chains tho, lots of being let down.

But when there are better places with better beer for only slightly more, it’s rediculous. There are way better Mexican restaurants with beer that costs the same.

Hot take: Mexican restaurants are the Applebees of ethnic foods.
