France is like a living museum for older cars.

I do believe someone who we shall not mention told you to absolutely buy that car.

Also, if you really want a car looked at that happens to be in Munich; I’m here for at least the next month and a half.

I actually still see both occasionally. The Polo is.mostly gone by now, but I’m not amazed when I see one. They’re from the era when VW built tough reliable cars that were easy to keep up for almost no money.

I really wanted to, believe me. Thinking about it makes me furious. Maybe better though because I have fallen in love (again) with the E46 BMW and a 45hp Polo isn’t exactly fast and great handling (but certainly better to wrench on).

The Polo would be a great first car. Something to learn on. Easy and cheap to work on, easy to see out off (park), rather communicative to drive, economically forgiving if you make mistakes. Scratch the paint? Who cares? Hit the bumpers? Meh, they’re rubber. Blow up the engine/transmission or total it? You’re out of a mere €300.

You learn and make mistakes with the first car and then, after a year or two, upgrade to something nicer. That’s the ideal, IMHO.

And that is/was the plan. But it’s not like there aren’t many other old cheap cars out there. The summer and my birthday are coming up so it’s not too long until I can finally call a car mine.

My father used to own one that he would leave in Paris to use when he had to stay there... That was until my aunt took it, opened the door without looking right when a bus was passing lol
