I heard on the radio the other day scientists now believe they may be caused by stripes. STRIPES! You must have some striped objects in the house?

As someone who has landed in the ER on multiple occasions because of migraines I can commiserate. Last time, my boss saw me walk into the office looking like death and called the paramedics.

I had one a month ago with zero pain, just the visual hallucinations from the aura. Popped a pill from the last ER visit and the problem went away.

Here’s hoping you get well soon. I’ve been knocked down for days from these annoying things, so I know what you’re going through...

I used to get them daily, but haven’t gotten any in years. I seem to have made a transition to Meniere’s disease, though... I think I might rather have the migraines.

What is Ménière’s disease?

CANT WATCH AURA GIF. I actually get agitated/nauseous/unsettled/apprehensive when I see any representation of it real or not. It just brings my anxiety up. In fact, I’ve more anxiety in an aura than I do any spider I’ve ever faced.

The first time I experienced it I thought I was having a stroke. I checked in with my co-workers and they said I was looking and speaking normally, and that’s when I found out what it was. But I also have a mild form of temporal lobe epilepsy, so I’m no stranger to weird things happening to my brain.

A vestibular disorder. No one knows what causes it, but it causes the cilia in your ear to die, resulting in not-insignificant hearing loss and tinnitus. It also causes severe balance issues and occasional severe episodic vertigo. Which duplicates how you would feel after a long night of drinking near-alcohol-poisoning quantities of liquor... The room spins and the puke won’t stop.

I’ve tried and tried to figure out what causes it, but no luck. My current theory with all of the recent news coming out about the anthrax vaccine is that it may have been the cause... The very first symptoms I exhibited were while I was in Qatar in 2009, and I received the vaccine in fall/winter of 2008.

When I got my first one in 5th grade I thought I was getting superpowers....How naive I was to not know what a curse this would be.

I’ve found that mine are tied to caffeine and over-stimulation (extended exposure to bright sunlight, loud noises, staring at a computer screen or my phone for too many hours at a time). My job is pretty much staring at a computer screen, so hard to cut that out, but I’ve cut most caffeine out of my life, and I’ve seen an improvement (fewer migraines).
