That’s impressive, but good luck beating the overall record of 6:11.13, still owned by a petrol-powered beast called the 956. When a EV can top that, now we’re talking!

How so? The 1.5 second 0-60 isn’t even close to a record for gasoline cars. Pro-stock, Pro-mod, Funny cars, Pro Alcohol. There are lots of cars much quicker than that. A Top Fuel car goes 0-60 in 0.2 seconds and hits 100 in 0.8. These cars date back decades. Not to mention an electric bike performed a 0.8 0-60 time long before the 1.5 second F-SAE run.

And lets not pretend that those Formula SAE cars can set quick lap times on a circuit, they’re designed for custom made coned obstacle courses.
