A ‘15 manual Chevy SS has bullied its way to the top. Which is good because the ‘14 automatic I test drove was rather disappointing. Obviously a big black corvette powered Chevy sedan hits a sentimental chord with me.
Being a rainy day in the city I didn’t open it up at all, but the car wanted me to. It’s good to have communication.
If I do end up with one I wonder how long I’ll leave the door open when I start it. Probably months. Dat exhaust.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned through this; There is just an embarrassment of great car choices from 25-35k, and I haven’t even really explored the european offerings (GTI, meh/ 987 boxster good, but rare-ish and condition dependent)

I didn’t realize a manual SS could be had that cheap. I wish I was in the market!!

It’s listed at 36,100 but close enough to justify.

I would love to import an SS, but I’d rather not take the exchange rate hit and pay more tax on it. Also, I have no money.

Once you get a budget about $20k, used car shopping gets really hard. It’s that intersection of nearly-new hot hatches and Boostangs mixed with older-but-not-old Bahnstormers, V8 sedans/coupes, and even pure sports cars. So many choices!

I mean... why not a DB7? I’ve always loved them.

Despite my comment the other day to Zoidberg, I still have doubts about passing on getting an SS. I wonder how it would class for auto cross? I imagine it would be challenging for that, but fun to try.

I still maintain that the SS wouldn’t have been a flop had they called it Chevelle.

Coupe/manual/v12 models are just too much with regards to buy in and maintenance. Though I’m sure they won’t get cheaper.

FS would make sense, but I find it listed under street touring ultra (STU) for 2017. Dang, that’s some challenging competition.
Edit: You are surely right, it should be in FS, just not listed. Things in STU are also in FS if stock.

It was designed to be a flop. It had to be. It was the bone GM threw to satisfy aus gov and labor for shutting down Holden.

Hard to imagine it beating a 135i through a slalom.

Eh, I just found that on a forum after a quick Google search. I’m not really into the autox scene these days.
Though I’m thinking about taking the 5 to an autox in a couple weeks after new tires.

Leaving the door open when you start it up - yes!!
If that’s your price range, it’s worth sampling an E90 M3.
