What a then-current Thunderbird’s front suspension is actually set up like (courtesy ABQTBird on the Vintage Thunderbird Club International ):

For some reason, that picture has just driven home how heinous the toe change would be under braking if there’s any play whatsoever. Not that you haven’t thoroughly driven that home previously, mind, but that picture was the final Tetris piece that completed the “what the actual fuck?” in my brain.

Methinks the Thunderbird-Type compliance link deserves a Canadian-type Double Pliance Jump.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Also, speaking of wacky Ford suspensions, Dave Tracy’s little piece on how “neat” Ford I-beams and TTB’s are triggered me to actually comment on the FP about how they laugh in the face of alignments.

If they made a Thunderbird wagon... I would seek the shit out of that right now.

Did I mention that the bushing is a toothed end style one that’s supposed to “bite” whatever it’s mounted to? And because they don’t want it to attach directly to the crank, it has a serrated washer to be a controlled friction surface, and it bites *that*? Oh, and the front left (the side where the crank was loose) had a crack in the A-arm bushing socket from all the twisting. That happened.

Do you think this picture is more of an offer or a threat? Also, trololo:

I have made the first part of the crank brace. We shall see how that goes.

Damn, good question. “You’ve never driven cars like these before... heh heh heh...”

Also, smooth the road, my ass. It could be worse, I have to say it does ride better than a solid axle F250.
