4". They couldn’t design in 4 inches to fit the extra set of bores. Potential best car ever made by Ford, instead they end up with this horrible sounding abomination. Full disclosure l, I own a 3.5 ecoboost, there is a reason they pipe in the engine sound over the radio.

Not “couldn’t,” but “wouldn’t.” a big part of this car’s entire point was to show off Ecoboost engines as not being the fragile-turbo’d over-stressed things that trolls like to claim they are. and a big part of that was basing it on a production engine.
there is a reason they pipe in the engine sound over the radio.
this is not what ESE does. it uses the audio system to selectively enhance (add to) the desired engine sound, and suppress things like annoying drones. It’s not creating an engine sound out of nothing.
I can’t understand why people will make such vehement proclamations about things they know so little.

Honestly, it really is one of the purest supercars you can get, everything else is going to hybrid systems. This Engine+Transmission+Added-lightness.
Also, from what I’ve seen and listened to in videos this sounds nothing like the ecoboost in my SHO or your SHO/F150/Lincoln/Whatever.

For someone claiming to know sooooo much, you seem to know very little, especially about me.
1. You got your acronym wrong, Ford uses ACN, not ESE.
2. The GT decision was mostly based on homologation for racing.
3. I love turbos, so insinuating that I don’t doesn’t make a lot of sense. I own three cars currently...grand total of 5 turbos between the three.
4. They should have made the GT the only EcoBoost V8 considering the street price of the car.

it’s ANC , “Active Noise Control.” And the same hardware is used for both ANC and ESE. Hybrids and Lincolns typically use it in the ANC role, performance-geared vehicles use it in the ESE role
and ANC/ESE hardware is part of my department...

Since you are responsible, I will say the Explorer sport does sound awesome on the inside, are far as the canceled (or added....semantics) engine noise is concerned. I think there are some frequncies that arent tuned right though, as mine has a “roar” that is irritating me morw as time goes on, I recently bought a Focus ST and it has a quieter ride, by far. I was thinking off swapping to different tires on the explorer, hoping to cure the road noise roar.

When you have the smile on your face when you win 1st place and lady comes over to kiss you while you spray champagne or the guy comes over to kiss you if your a girl are you really thinking “man I won but the engine noise....”
