I have to replace the third brake light on my sister’s 1999 (?) Toyota Yaris. I couldn’t find it on the Internet but I assume it uses a single w16w bulb? Anyone of you could give me a hint?

As an American, Euro Toyotas are weird. You use the same names and the cars are the same idea but they look so different.

In ‘99, it was an Echo in the US. Are you USDM or elsewhere? And is it 2dr/4dr/Hatch/Sedan?

I’d just pull it out and walk into a parts store, them that I need another one of these and brandish the light bulb valiantly.

+1. This is my method and it works brilliantly.

You got these as the Echo. Which is a far weirder car, being sedan and all, than the EU market mk1 (3 or 5 door hatch) Yaris.

Our Echo looked quite different though.

Best advice. Always take the old part.

“Yes. I need one of THESE.”

It’s the same car though. Just take a two door Yaris and give it a three box shape and change various bits, lights especially because odd US regulations and there you are.

As mentioned by others, remove it and show the old part in a parts store.
I did find parts numbers though.

Yeah, I know but I meant to show up with the bulb, change it and be on my way

I’m in Italy, actually. The car looks exactly like the one in the post, only with more... Let’s say character

The USDM Echo was only sold as 2dr/4dr sedan, no hatch, and it ran a W16W bulb.
The reason I asked is our first Yaris (2007) hatch ran an LED bar (eew) as opposed to a servicable bulb.
I wish I could cheat and un-region lock my software to look up other market’s models (for $420/month you’d hope I could).

You folks never got the first-gen Echo hatch in the US, but we did get it up here in Canadialand. I quite like ‘em, was considering one when I wound up with the Accent!

The hatch looks so much better than either of our Echo offerings...
