I wonder if the Giocattolo was inspired in Alfa’s own stillborn Sprint 6C from the early 80s– a delectable Sprint with a North-South V6 Busso fitted amidships which allegedly was going to be Alfa’s car for Group B competition.
Tellingly the Aussie project started using Alfa V6s, but that proved way too expensive.
Some time ago I found a website by a fellow countryman of yours
I haven’t seen its latest version, but it is definitely worth a look. (I wish the author corrected the misspelling of “Centro Tecnic
a
” though.)

Some history here. Maybe looking up past and present owners (see the “Collection” part) it would be possible to locate where this one is?

You mean the Sprint 6C or the Giocattolo? The 6C is wonderful indeed. The Giocattolo - well, they went a bit overboard with the body mods, I think. But what a project.

Now I remember the webmaster of the site I mentioned told me that he knew of one Giocattolo near his place. Maybe you can try contacting him, if you are very interested?

Don’t worry too much. It’s an age thing!
I am trying to find some pictures of the (FWD) Alfa Romeo Sprint with the kit for the Trofeo series (allegedly the fastest single-model racing cup in Europe at the time!) but no luck. There is this video where at least you can see the wheelarch extensions:

Different animal (but somehow related) because proper Italian V8, most likely transversely-mounted.
Mr Burton, who must be an exceedingly enterprising individual, used it mostly for hillclimbs and club rallying. (I imagine no national championship would allow such a hybrid.)
