Kinja'd!!!

Imagine if I’d found my calling as a traffic engineer: this abomination might exist on someone’s daily commute. As it is though, I have to get my kicks maxing out traffic in Cities Skylines (public transportation who?) and letting the spaghetti flow.

Public transport:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

So you’ve got a week...

Though honestly it surprising the their public transit stuff has sucked so much. You’d think they’d just graft of the system from Cities in Motion 2.

I put in some token buses and subways but stopped when I realized how much micromanaging was involved. Something about the road creation system really presses my buttons though, I could spend days doing this.

I know this is an OLD one, but how does Sim City 3000 compare to this game? That is one of my favorite classics and I could play that game (still today) for hours on end. But I always wish highways were actually useful in that game and had more stuff like this.

I never player SimCity 3000 but I did log an obscene amount of time in SimCity 4. Cities: Skylines is incredibly traffic management focused.

All your city’s resources come in through your roads, so bad roads or heavy traffic means your power plants can’t get fuel, your citizens garbage can’t get picked up, your industrial areas don’t have enough raw materials. When that starts happening people and businesses start pouring out which means you lose tax revenue, which means you can’t fix the problems you created because you have no money.

It takes a couple games to get the hang of it, you can’t play it the same way that you would play SimCity, but it is so addicting. I highly recommend it for a modern take on the genre.

I bought this game recently, haven’t spent much time with it yet though. I have however been playing Theotown on android. It’s my favorite city sim for mobile. It seems to borrow much of its terminology from Cities Skylines.

Yep, I get it, it’s fun to make those complicated interchanges. Hell I get similar joy from going back in time and building nasty train layouts:

I was going to say exactly what DrivesaWRXandWantsYoutoKnowAboutIt said. The developer’s earlier games were traffic simulators, so it features heavily in this game too.

Oh yes, that sounds like exactly my kind of game! Thats what I always felt pissed off about Sim City is that roads didnt really matter.

Ah Cities Skylines infrastructure, the quintessential, it was better in my head...

Some samples from my city...

The Estelle Parsons Orgasmo Interchange. Crammed spaghettification of otherwise straight interstates and beltways.

Kinja'd!!!

The Mike Litorus Interchange. Intersection of interstate, beltway and frontage road with passing trains.

Kinja'd!!!

and finally, the interchange that has no name. A giant pile of redundancy that intersects 3 thruways and some number of roads.
