Freshly baked bread. I was thinking about what to make for dinner but threw out any plans I had when I grabbed a baguette and it was still warm. Ended up buying some cured meats (capicola and some local smoked salami) and said “fuck it” to cooking tonight.

Back in the last century, my daughters were going to a Catholic preschool, run by an Italian order of nuns
The preschool was connected to the convent, os there were no snow days. I can vividly remember bringing my daughters to school, through the sleet and freezing rain, bringing them inside, and being wrapped in the smells of freshly baked bread and chicken soup
That’s when I KNEW that Catholic religious orders were just a cover for sadistic horrors
