From Engadget:

“A fatal crash has left the amphibious Icon A5 personal aircraft’s fate mired in uncertainty. Lead engineer Jon Karkow and coworker Cagri Sever were killed in the accident outside of Icon’s Vacaville, California training facility, AVweb reports . Karkow was piloting the aircraft at the time and the pair had been airborne for around 20 minutes.”

Ohhh, I was thinking those might be pretty fun. My dad is a pilot. They have a parachute too.

That sucks. Obviously for the loss of talent and the loss of life but that I really liked the A5 and I liked their approach to light craft safety. I wonder what happened? For the sake of the company lets hope it was pilot error.

Sounds like the pilot had some experience from what the article says. Hopefully the investigation figures out what happened, because if they don’t, Icon is in big trouble.

Thats what I mean. I mean, accidents happen and its always tragic, but if its a pilot error than the company doesn’t have to fight as hard to stay afloat...on the other hand if its engineering related...

FYI the passenger killed JUST moved over from being a product manager at Ford.
