Anyone ever use this? I have a power steering box leak, so I figured I try the simplest thing first. Truck is an 08 gmc 2500hd

Kinja'd!!!

I only noticed the leak recently, and the steering doesn’t seem to be effected by the level of fluid, and I don’t feel like shelling out for the box. Or having manual steering in an 7000lb truck.

Music for your time. I heard it in a Heineken Comercial.

Worked in the auto parts sections of a store, never heard anything good from the mechanics or other coworkers about stop leak. Most complained about it clogging up the hoses and being a temporary fix at best.

I have an 05 Silverado 2500HD. By chance are we dealing with a gasser or a diesel?

The diesels have hydroboost brakes (which work off the pressure that the P/S pump generates), and it loves going through fluid. Probably there’s a bad seal somewhere causing my leak.

But stop leak? Not even once.

It may be a temporary fix, but you’ll go from needing to replace just the box to possibly needing to replace everything.

Where is it leaking? “Stop leak” supposedly helps to recondition internal seals, but it’s not going to plug an external leak, especially with hydraulic pressure behind it.

Tried it as a pathetic attempt to slow a leak in the PS system, but the hole was rather large.

Now after reading the comments and realizing this fluid makes up all of my PS fluid, I am hoping nothing breaks.

If it says stop-leak DON’T USE IT.

That stuff just gunks up any system it goes into

You missed the second part -

I used to drive a 2001 2500HD with the 8.1L. Power steering pump died on me one day. Steering that thing with that lump of iron on the front axle was not fun. Fix it while you can.

Honestly changing out a steering gear box isn’t too bad of job. Buy a GOOD Pitman arm puller, as the cheap one i bought distorted when i removed mine. Even rebuilding a box isn’t terribly difficult. But nah, no stop leak.
