I like the handling of the Focus SW better than the 308 SW (dad used to have a focus, now had a 308, both with the 1.6 diesel engine). So I don’t think it is too bad, not a 208 GTi of course, but for what it is, it is quite good.

Also how do you like the active city stop? This quartile I’m doing a course given by one of the Ford engineers that worked on it.

Count yourself lucky. I’m in the Netherlands and have an Auris Hybrid.

I’m mostly on the Autobahn, so the start and stop doesn’t do much. But for the few times it was active, it was quite nice. More reactive than the 116d from work I drove a few years ago.

From what I tried (quick left right movements on a straight) the handling is bad, like Bel Air level bad. The suspension is quite squishy. Maybe with taller wheels?

I don’t know which one is worse :)

I meant the automatic stopping system, that can brake up to 30 km/h, but you probably won’t run into that on the highway either.

The high sidewalls don’t help it in that, but I could carry quite some speed through corners in it, but maybe they changed the suspension tuning during the facelift.

Haha, good to see you are adapting yourself to our car culture!

Why?

Will it blend?

Is that as much fun as it sounds?

I’ve hired two Priiii over the years and found them fine. Fun, maybe not so much.

I really didn’t like it - not that I expected much, but the beeps man, the beeps. If, for example, you are reversing out of a parking spot and your passenger doesn’t have their seatbelt on, a hideous symphony arises from inside the dashboard - a combination of reverse parking sensors, front parking sensors, seatbelt chime, and Dutch Radio 2. It is infuriating within a millisecond. Also someone shrunk the gear stick.

It’s so wibbly wobbly. And I still don’t know what ‘B’ stands for.

Cause I have to check some test a company 250km from mine does for us, and I’m not allowed or willing to take my personal car, so I get a slow rental.

I might get into trouble if I blend it. But it definitely blends in

Aaaaah, nope, didn’t experience that.

I don’t know if they tweaked the suspension, but it’s a rental, so I guess it’s no sport version :)

This one is barely broken in, I just passed 2000km

Niko mentioned that I had left my Skoda estate taxi in the UK, only to drive a typical Dutch taxi. I don’t like how the ‘or similar’ bit works with some hire companies... order a manual estate, get a Hybrid automatic hatchback+

I agree with that, If I ever where to start a hire company, I would just buy boatloads of the same cars, and just give the customer what is said on the website.

It stands for “backward.” R stands for “Race” and that’s why there’s an arrow pointing forward. D is for “Down” which stances the car. N? I don’t know, try it.

Ok, sorry, I do actually know what the “B” is for. It’s the extra regenerative braking mode, which Toyota recommends using when driving down mountains. At least that’s what I remember from googling it a year ago.
