My Supercharged Xterra is due for an emissions test this year, which it will not pass. So I have to replace it and look what just happened to pop up for sale. This is far and away the cheapest Supercharged Frontier in Ontario, so I’m wondering what’s wrong with it. Regardless, I’m considering flying up to Thunder Bay and driving it back.

Surely it would be more practical to simply have some repairs done..

Those supercharged V6s are junk.

I failed an emissions test once. I replaced an oxygen sensor, not the entire car.

Why won’t it pass? Probably easier just to fix it.

If an ‘88 Chevy 305 can pass with flying colours even though some of the emission controls were disconnected I fail to see how a Frontier can’t be made to pass...

It has an EVAP code that simply reads “EVAP System Error” which means somewhere in this trucks vast EVAP system, something doesn’t work. In Ontario if your vehicle has a any codes present it automatically fails. Also it has a cracked manifold, two cats that broke down and are now hollow, and the exhaust is broken in three places.

Yeah but it can tow more than the 4.0L Frontier/Xterra because Nissan put a garbage transmission in the 4.0L trucks. Also mine’s at 352,000kms and I’ve never had a single problem with the motor, so I’m pleased with it.
