replaced dash lighting with “ultraviolet (blacklight)“

Kinja'd!!!

there is much in the comments:

- UV LEDs are bad for you

- “these aren’t standard UV leds, these are more purple than anything”

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

“it’s getting LS swapped next winter” so once blind, the mustang will certainly have the power to plow through more than the first row of cars and coffee spectators

The UV rays won’t hurt his eyes because anyone who would do this will also be wearing sunglasses to look cool.

So yeah, still blind at night, but at least no retinoblastoma.

As someone who has done extensive work with UV light and UV curing resin for 3D printing applications:

-Not all cameras will pick up UV light the same.

-Monitors will not display the same frequency of UV light as what a UV LED can emit, otherwise you’d have crazy eye problems from the UV exposure.

-Yes, looking at UV for extended periods of time is very, very bad for your eyes. Don’t do it. Definitely don’t put them in your dashboard.

not only that, I feel like UV/blacklight, whatever he is calling it, is very hard to look at, whether damaging or not. I feel like his dash would be very hard to understand. The light really plays tricks on you, and I feel that looking at this dash and then into the real world would leave your brain confused.

Yes, If it’s really UV, it’s borderline visible light spectrum. Those LEDs could be pumping out a lot of light but it’s not necessarily visible light. Extra extra hard on your eyeballs and stuffs.
