Kinja'd!!!

So the reason why I can’t seem to lock down my trades over at LaLD is because I am massively scared at the prospect of paying more for shipping than the value of the cars themselves. I’ve gone for a relatively risk-free giveaway deal with user Twojayzed to start with but I am still utterly frozen with fear.

How does this all work, anyway, and how much am I gonna shell out? Because I’m serious about going further with HWEPs and I might need to burn through my carefully-saved allowance to pull it off.

Why am I asking Oppo, though? Because I’d like to have a bigger set of opinions, that’s all.

Enter origin and destination zip codes, then select the smallest flat rate envelope or box that will hold everything.

If your concern is paying more for shipping than the value of the car, consider where you would be able to get the car. If it is something you could find at a local store, then don’t do the trade. If it is something you’re going to have to buy off ebay, you’re going to have to pay shipping anyway.

For one 1/64 diecast shipping tends to be about $3. Up to 4, about $5.

If you are shipping cars, you can get small (CD sized) bubble mailers in a 2 or 3 pack at dollar stores for $1. They will hold 1-4 cars easily. Tissues or newspaper for padding and you are good to go.

Forgot to mention that I’m in the Philippines.

Forgot to mention that I’m in the Philippines. Thanks for the packing tips, BTW.

I routinely ship for my eBay hobby. As other have posted use the USPS shipping calculator; however, be aware that sometimes the Flat Rate price is more than standard Priority Mail in your own box. For example I routinely mail PS2's which easily fit into Medium Flat Rate boxes which are about $14 IIRC, if I supplied my own box and shipped Priority it is about $9 - $10.

If you are dealing with a bunch of cars (i.e. nearing 15 to 20 lbs or a large box) it may be best to use FedEx SmartPost. Their rates are fairly reasonable, and they team up with USPS to deliver to the door. The package should end up in their mailbox rather than sitting in front of their door (depending on size of course).

I should note that eBay gives me heavy discounts on shipping (about 10-40%) so your experience may vary.

Any international shipping is going to be worth more than the cars you are shipping if you are shipping hot wheels. The trick is to just make it worth it, but not so heavy that it gets too pricey. But I don’t know what shipping out of the Philippines to somewhere else costs.
