Kinja'd!!!

Well the NoxBox is official no longer my problem. Its off my hands and we are waiting on our check. Its always hard to say goodbye to a good car, and this was a good car. I mean, sure the fuel system exploded, and it was giving me EGR codes right up to the end, and it never really drove great in regen mode since the reflash that didn’t actually solve the emissions problems but I’ll miss it. Frankly, It will likely be the last stick shift my wife will ever own, and its very likely to break her unbroken VW streak.

We bought this car in October of 2010 as my wife’s 3rd straight VW and our first new car. Both our kids came home from the hospital in this little wagon. 65000 miles later and here we are. I wrote this at 50,000 miles when the deal broke.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It even made it to the front page.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Bye little NoxBox.

So it was excellent despite being a complete turd. Very Jalop.

It’s actually not even black. It’s a very dark shade of brown, thus completing the Jalop checklist.

Meh, all cars go into the shop. The fuel system thing was a PITA but the car was great for the most part.

Yes, all cars do go into the shop, but not all cars throw codes constantly and not all cars need thousands of dollars worth of repairs in their first 50k miles.

You have to own one (or in my case, have a parent that owned one) to understand. Still, I know my dad will never own one again, and I doubt I’ll follow in his footsteps... though, a nice B5.5 wagon...

Oh I agree, but the funds were in my account in under 48 hours from my turn in.

The email will be from Chase and it will be sent to whatever email account you used for the process.

Well, I wouldn’t say constantly. It came on a few times in the last few months. Cracked DPF. Granted I would be pissed if i were keeping it, even though it would still be under the emissions warranty.

LOL.

I’m the same way. Going to be turning in my Passat soon.

Sure, my fuel system ate itself. And the Adblue system throws an occasional trouble light. Oh, and it has Takata airbags, the turbo was recalled and the headlights always seemed weak.

But dammit I liked it.

LOL I sold my 2013 TDI jetta back. Had a Passat for a few months and then last weekend bought a “new” 2015 TDI. There is something about these cars that any other VW can not replace

You know whats funny? I figured my wife would have been all over the passat, being diesel and VW and bigger...but she wasn’t at all. She said it drove heavy and was no fun. I can’t say I disagree, but I was a little surprised. Question: what did you get your for? What deal did they give you? Did they give you some BS about having to put money into it to get it back to as new?

Seconded. I know the difference between a DD and a toy, as I have one of both categories right now.

VW sells cars to be used for DD, with reliability worse than some toys. I thought only their gas engines were crap, but looks like their diesels aren’t that reliable either.

Credibility: Former B5 Passat owner

So little back story. Dropped off the Jetta in Feb with 65K on it. got about 20K for the car. At that point I had bought my gas passat already as a replacement. I liked the car but I never could really fall in love with it. It was an auto and just didn’t drive the way other VW’s did. So This past weekend I stopped by my local dealer thinking about getting the Passat appraised and looking at a Alltrack. I wasn’t a huge fan either. Then I saw three TDI wagons sitting on the lot all for sale. New leftover 2015s. I drove it and immediately fell in love with the car and the dealer gave me about 3K more than expected for my trade in. So needless to say we talked and I got a good deal and am very happy. Yes its not a manual but the DSG is pretty awesome. I got 6K off of sticker and 72 mo. 0% which I am happy about. It is just base trim but I feel in the long run this car will be a much better unicorn compared to the passat. I think this TDI will hold some value where the Passat will just devalue to nothing

Yeah so my dealer said to buy they offer a 5 grand off the sticker...but...they had to “put about $2500 into them because they had been sitting so long, so its about $2500 off sticker”. Um no. You loose $2500, cause thats not coming out of my pocket. sorry.

Kinja'd!!! "TDIGuy" (owenrosier)
05/09/2017 at 14:19, STARS: 0

What kind of BS is the 2500 into them ? I would have never done that. I will say mine looks like it has new tires and breaks but I can’t really tell. I wonder if they were trying to get you to eat those things because I bet the calipers/rotors got rusty and the tires got flat spots. But like I said mine feels like any other new car some thats BS for them trying to do that.

Kinja'd!!! "HammerheadFistpunch" (hammerheadfistpunch)
05/09/2017 at 14:21, STARS: 0

Exactly this. They had to put new brakes/tires on because of sitting on the lot but they have the gaul to ask me to eat that cost. Hell to the no.

05/09/2017 at 14:29, STARS: 0

Yeah I would not have done that at all if that was the case. I am very happy they did that and I was not about to eat that money
