Dunno, I think it depends on the circumstances. For a good chunk of what writing I have done my method has been “get pissed at the alternative”. That sort of writing works best the first time around. Trying a rewrite on something like that in my experience seems to come out flat. Proofreading, tweaking, yes. Rewrite no.
